Boycotting Republic Day?

There have been calls from all over India to boycott this Republic Day as a protest against the continuing crimes against women in this country. I totally agree with the public anger and I am also a part of group of people who believe that the government is not doing enough to make our country safe for women. My heart also burns with anger when everyday I read the news papers and find that again sme woman is subjected to a crime against her freedom, or her modesty.

However, I do not agree to this call for boycotting the Republic Day. This is because today if we are able to protest against the non-functioning of Government or holding demonstrations, or even writing on the social websites to boycott Republic Day, its because India chose to be a republic when it accepted the constitution in 1950.

Our leaders at the time of independence showed a great foresight when they decided that India would become a Republic and all the members of political class and government functionaries will be answerable to the general public. They gave us the power to vote and choose whom we want as our representatives to govern the country. They made the general public of India as it's real masters.

Today when most of us are disappointed with the way our government and it's officials are working, instead of boycotting the Republic Day celebrations, we should take pride in this day and by celebrating this day we should show our political brass that they should not forget that it is the general public that is the ruler of this country and they are just it's representatives. And this will also prove that public realises it's rights to change the representatives if it feels that they are not up to the task.

It's time that we realise the power that our constitution has given to us and use that power wisely to protect us from every evil that is facing our society today. And yes! Take pride in our Constitution and remember the importance of Republic Day.

Self-Realization (The Secret of Happiness)

" Self-Realization is the first encounter with Reality ." A simple but true statement. We spend years on this earth, lost and burdened with a load of aspirations and dreams. But for there comes a time in everyone's life when the realization struck like lightning and the entire life turns upside down. We realize that we've been chasing the wrong goals throughout our lives. Most of us spend our entire lifetimes chasing wealth, power, and materialistic joys of life and believing that achieving those goals would fill our lives with happiness. Little do we know that if happiness could be bought every rich man would be happy and poor would not be sleeping at night. However, we all know that is not true. But for the lucky ones who get a taste of this self-realization, a chance of turning around their lives presents itself.   I happened to have a similar experience. I was sitting in a restaurant with some of my friends, when suddenly in the middle of the conversation it struc...

Sanatana Dharma-The Earliest Concepts of Science

Hinduism as we know of today is an evolved or I should say is a simplified version of Sanatan Dharma. Sanatan is a Sanskrit word which means which is Anadi (beginingless) and Anant (endless) and does not cease to be, that which is eternal and everlasting. Therefore, we can ascertain from this meaning that this religion has always been trying to locate that is invisible, grab that is without form and know what is unknown, much like the Modern Science. The recorded history of Hinduism or in correct terms Sanatan Dharma starts from the Vedic period when the Hymns of Rig Veda were created by our great Maharishis. The texts of this religion may contain hymns, rituals, meditation, magic etc, but it is the most scientific religion world may have ever known. Our beliefs, the knowledge in our religious texts is full of scientific ideas that Modern science has explored in recent past and some of the knowledge is still out of bounds to Modern Science. Let me start from the concept o...

Decoding Hinduism

“A set of belief concerning the cause, nature and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as a creation of superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.”  dictionary.com “A personal set or institutionalised system of religious attitudes, beliefs and practices.”  merriam-webster.com These are the definitions of the word ‘Religion’ given in two of the most renowned dictionaries available on Internet. And these definitions are spot on in case of most of the religions existing in the world like Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism , etc. Every religion would find its definition in the above mentioned words. But not Hinduism; because these definitions are too narrow in scope to define Hinduism. It is too broad a term to be defined in two simple lines. I am in no way trying to undermine any other religion or trying to portray a larger than life im...
