100% FDI – A Game changer for India

Recently Government of India lead by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced a major policy change which could lead to a windfall for the economy of India. Government allowed up to 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Aviation, Pharmaceuticals, Defense and Retail. This is a historic decision given India’s fear of giant multinational companies since gaining independence in 1947. India, which gained independence after a 200 year British rule started by East India Company has always been vary of allowing another big multinational company to set up business on Indian soil without a control of Indian government. With this decision of Modi government, the fears have again crept back into the minds of thousands of Indians. They have started criticizing the government alleging that it is again staking the sovereignty of the country. However, the fact is that these fears are baseless. India of today is not the same as the India when East India Company first landed on its shores...

Congress Mukt Bharat! What India Wants and What India Needs?

With the win in Assam and the results of West Bangal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala giving clear indications that public has more or less lost faith in Congress Party, BJP’s slogan of “Congress Mukt Bharat” is shaping into reality. With every election, the political space of Congress is shrinking and the party which once ruled almost entire India is looking like a regional party. So is it the start of a long period of political insignificance for Congress and if it is so what does it mean for us? Congress has ruled India for more than 50 years since independence and during that period there was almost no challenge to its power in either Centre or States. Immediately after independence, since it was the only political party connected to the Indian public and because of the presence of leaders like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and many others, public did not even looked at anyone else. However, if we look into the history, we would also see that ...

Self Before Others

Ever given it a thought that why do we all want to go back to our childhood at least once in our adult life? Why does the laughter of a baby feels like the most melodious sound that we ever hear in our life time? There is a simple reason behind these feelings. A child is only concerned about his/her own happiness and the sound of his/her laughter has its roots in the innocence that does not know how to think beyond his/her inner satisfaction. Now you may think that acquiring this kind of behavior would make us selfish and would go against all that we have been taught  about the social behavior through out our lives. However, it is here that we need to sit back, relax, compose our mind and radicalize our entire thought process. Ask yourself a simple question, can a bank offer loan to its customers if its own treasuries are empty? Can I offer bread to a hungry man if I do not have a single piece of bread in my own kitchen? Similarly a mind that is not happy and that is not at p...

Bollywood Or Cricket? It's Olympics for God's Sake...

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has done it again. They have again shown that there is no one better when it comes to ignoring the feats achieved by the Olympians of the country and sending a clear message to all the participating athletes that no matter how many medals you win at the Rio Olympics, you will always be an unknown entity in India. This applaudable deed was achieved when IOA announced Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan as the Goodwill Ambassador for Indian Contingent for Rio Olympics.  This is the power of Bollywood that the top bosses of IOA were unable to differentiate between reality and fiction. I am sure that they would have thought of Salman Khan as a Olympic standard Wrestler after watching the teaser of his upcoming movie Sultan. If that is the criteria than I hope that our Hockey team will be coached by Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar will represent India in 100 meters and 200 meters sprints at the Olympics. By ignoring the stalwarts of the Olympic sports ...

The Importance of 'I'

When a child is born, he knows no relations. He is only concerned about his meals and his sleep. As he starts to grow up he is introduced to the relationships and then for most of us these relations become more important that even ourselves. God created only man and woman. It is us who gave a name to human interactions because of our need for companion. But the point right now or the questions in front of us are; whether we should keep relations ahead of ourselves? And whether we do justice to that relation by doing that?  Now let me elaborate on these questions. There comes a time in everyone's life when a relationship becomes so important that in order to keep it alive we are willing to sacrifice everything and sometimes the effort is reciprocated and sometimes it doesn't. We need to ask ourselves if all this effort is worth the try?  The answer is No. Because till the time I is not satisfied in a relationship it will never let We to evolve. I believe that the ...

Sanatana Dharma-The Earliest Concepts of Science

Hinduism as we know of today is an evolved or I should say is a simplified version of Sanatan Dharma. Sanatan is a Sanskrit word which means which is Anadi (beginingless) and Anant (endless) and does not cease to be, that which is eternal and everlasting. Therefore, we can ascertain from this meaning that this religion has always been trying to locate that is invisible, grab that is without form and know what is unknown, much like the Modern Science. The recorded history of Hinduism or in correct terms Sanatan Dharma starts from the Vedic period when the Hymns of Rig Veda were created by our great Maharishis. The texts of this religion may contain hymns, rituals, meditation, magic etc, but it is the most scientific religion world may have ever known. Our beliefs, the knowledge in our religious texts is full of scientific ideas that Modern science has explored in recent past and some of the knowledge is still out of bounds to Modern Science. Let me start from the concept o...

My Understanding of Hinduism

Who is a Hindu? The simplest answer would be a person who follows Hinduism is a Hindu. But this answer can be sufficient for a follower of Islam, Christianity or Sikhism because these religions are based on a set of rules and rituals and hence can be defined on the basis of following of them. However, when talking about a Hindu or Hinduism this answer does not suffice. This is because Hinduism is not bound by rules and rituals. Hinduism is more of a way of life than a religion. If you are able to unearth the deep rooted truths that lie in the teachings of Hinduisms, then there is no fear of any Hell and no desire for any Heaven left in us. There are reasons that I refer to Hinduism as a way of life. And I would like to share some of the reasons that I have been able to decode. First of all, a Hindu unlike a Muslim or a Christian is not asked to follow one particular God and lead the life in a particular way. There is a lot of freedom. The thoughts, ideology, the rituals are not r...
