Be Limitless

Came across a very interesting conversation on one of the Whatsapp groups I am a member of. The synopsis of the discussion was that every one in today’s world is working really hard to get to a certain goal that they have set for themselves. It can be either money or power or job satisfaction or recognition. And in order to ensure that the goals are achieved most of are loosing out on the little moments of happiness in our lives i.e the time with family, watching your kids grow up and most importantly the time that we need to spend with ourselves. What really got me thinking and forced me to contemplate on this issue was that although everyone shares the same feeling of exhaustion, but everyone has a different take on the solution.  It can be anything from frequent family trips to spending more time with the family to changing the job. Even the blame for being the root cause of the problem cannot be fixed on one thing. It ranges from lack of money to lack of time to nature of job

Please Shut Up

After the out break of Dengue and Chickengunia, Delhi is has been hit by another dangerous and infectious disease. And this disease is particularly affecting the political corridors of Delhi. I am talking about the  "Foot in Mouth Disease," and the severely affected patients are Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar Vishvas, Sanjay Nirupam and various other AAP, Congress and other political leaders of India. In fact all of them are so severely affected by this disease that they should be shifted to ICU lest they take their entire legs into their mouths.  If you haven't got the hint,  I am pointing towards their comments on Indian Army's surgical strikes in PoK where these power hungry politicians have asked for the proof of such strikes.  It is an irony for our country which has been the home of great patriots like Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Raj Guru, Sukhdev, Ashfaqullah Khan and Ramprasad Bismil, is now known to the world as the home of these traitors. P

Seek Knowledge, Don't Seek A Guru

Guru Brahma Gurur Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwaraha Guru Saakshat ParaBrahma Tasmai Sree Gurave Namaha. This Sanskrit hymn is an ode to all the Gurus or teachers and in an inherent part of the Hindu religion and teaching. This shlok/hymn means, “ Guru  is verily the representative of  Brahma ,  Vishnu,  and  Shiva . He is even the Supreme Bhramana, the power above the holy trinity. Hence we bow our heads to the Guru.” In Sanatan Dharma, Guru/Teacher is equated with Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, the supreme Gods of Hindus. The place of the Guru in our lives is up there, right at the top. It is because a true Guru can create knowledge, provide the student with the capability to sustain knowledge, and has the power to destroy the ignorance within the student. In the next line, the Guru has been given a status above the holy trinity because a guru can take the student towards a path of knowledge and can instill confidence in him to keep walking on that path. And under the guidance of a true Guru

100% FDI – A Game changer for India

Recently Government of India lead by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced a major policy change which could lead to a windfall for the economy of India. Government allowed up to 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Aviation, Pharmaceuticals, Defense and Retail. This is a historic decision given India’s fear of giant multinational companies since gaining independence in 1947. India, which gained independence after a 200 year British rule started by East India Company has always been vary of allowing another big multinational company to set up business on Indian soil without a control of Indian government. With this decision of Modi government, the fears have again crept back into the minds of thousands of Indians. They have started criticizing the government alleging that it is again staking the sovereignty of the country. However, the fact is that these fears are baseless. India of today is not the same as the India when East India Company first landed on its shores

Congress Mukt Bharat! What India Wants and What India Needs?

With the win in Assam and the results of West Bangal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala giving clear indications that public has more or less lost faith in Congress Party, BJP’s slogan of “Congress Mukt Bharat” is shaping into reality. With every election, the political space of Congress is shrinking and the party which once ruled almost entire India is looking like a regional party. So is it the start of a long period of political insignificance for Congress and if it is so what does it mean for us? Congress has ruled India for more than 50 years since independence and during that period there was almost no challenge to its power in either Centre or States. Immediately after independence, since it was the only political party connected to the Indian public and because of the presence of leaders like Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and many others, public did not even looked at anyone else. However, if we look into the history, we would also see that

Self Before Others

Ever given it a thought that why do we all want to go back to our childhood at least once in our adult life? Why does the laughter of a baby feels like the most melodious sound that we ever hear in our life time? There is a simple reason behind these feelings. A child is only concerned about his/her own happiness and the sound of his/her laughter has its roots in the innocence that does not know how to think beyond his/her inner satisfaction. Now you may think that acquiring this kind of behavior would make us selfish and would go against all that we have been taught  about the social behavior through out our lives. However, it is here that we need to sit back, relax, compose our mind and radicalize our entire thought process. Ask yourself a simple question, can a bank offer loan to its customers if its own treasuries are empty? Can I offer bread to a hungry man if I do not have a single piece of bread in my own kitchen? Similarly a mind that is not happy and that is not at peace

Bollywood Or Cricket? It's Olympics for God's Sake...

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has done it again. They have again shown that there is no one better when it comes to ignoring the feats achieved by the Olympians of the country and sending a clear message to all the participating athletes that no matter how many medals you win at the Rio Olympics, you will always be an unknown entity in India. This applaudable deed was achieved when IOA announced Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan as the Goodwill Ambassador for Indian Contingent for Rio Olympics.  This is the power of Bollywood that the top bosses of IOA were unable to differentiate between reality and fiction. I am sure that they would have thought of Salman Khan as a Olympic standard Wrestler after watching the teaser of his upcoming movie Sultan. If that is the criteria than I hope that our Hockey team will be coached by Shah Rukh Khan and Farhan Akhtar will represent India in 100 meters and 200 meters sprints at the Olympics. By ignoring the stalwarts of the Olympic sports like

The Importance of 'I'

When a child is born, he knows no relations. He is only concerned about his meals and his sleep. As he starts to grow up he is introduced to the relationships and then for most of us these relations become more important that even ourselves. God created only man and woman. It is us who gave a name to human interactions because of our need for companion. But the point right now or the questions in front of us are; whether we should keep relations ahead of ourselves? And whether we do justice to that relation by doing that?  Now let me elaborate on these questions. There comes a time in everyone's life when a relationship becomes so important that in order to keep it alive we are willing to sacrifice everything and sometimes the effort is reciprocated and sometimes it doesn't. We need to ask ourselves if all this effort is worth the try?  The answer is No. Because till the time I is not satisfied in a relationship it will never let We to evolve. I believe that the c

Sanatana Dharma-The Earliest Concepts of Science

Hinduism as we know of today is an evolved or I should say is a simplified version of Sanatan Dharma. Sanatan is a Sanskrit word which means which is Anadi (beginingless) and Anant (endless) and does not cease to be, that which is eternal and everlasting. Therefore, we can ascertain from this meaning that this religion has always been trying to locate that is invisible, grab that is without form and know what is unknown, much like the Modern Science. The recorded history of Hinduism or in correct terms Sanatan Dharma starts from the Vedic period when the Hymns of Rig Veda were created by our great Maharishis. The texts of this religion may contain hymns, rituals, meditation, magic etc, but it is the most scientific religion world may have ever known. Our beliefs, the knowledge in our religious texts is full of scientific ideas that Modern science has explored in recent past and some of the knowledge is still out of bounds to Modern Science. Let me start from the concept of En

My Understanding of Hinduism

Who is a Hindu? The simplest answer would be a person who follows Hinduism is a Hindu. But this answer can be sufficient for a follower of Islam, Christianity or Sikhism because these religions are based on a set of rules and rituals and hence can be defined on the basis of following of them. However, when talking about a Hindu or Hinduism this answer does not suffice. This is because Hinduism is not bound by rules and rituals. Hinduism is more of a way of life than a religion. If you are able to unearth the deep rooted truths that lie in the teachings of Hinduisms, then there is no fear of any Hell and no desire for any Heaven left in us. There are reasons that I refer to Hinduism as a way of life. And I would like to share some of the reasons that I have been able to decode. First of all, a Hindu unlike a Muslim or a Christian is not asked to follow one particular God and lead the life in a particular way. There is a lot of freedom. The thoughts, ideology, the rituals are not r

I Want Reservation Because I Am In Majority

I am a male in my mid 30s living in India. I am a Hindu Brahmin which means that I belong to the section of this country which comprises 79% of its population. So statistically speaking I belong to the majority population of this country. However, with almost 52.50% reservation in education, jobs and promotions to the Scheduled Class, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes I am left to fight for what is left with more than half of the country's population. Hence, really speaking I belong to the minority in this nation. Therefore, today I want to ask for reservation for me and all the citizens of this country who are majority in numbers but minority in options. It seems that India is the only country in the free world, where the majority population is fighting a loosing battle for higher education and jobs for their children. I do not blame the citizens of this country who receive benefits under these various reservation schemes and neither I blame the citizens of this cou

Great Indian Political Circus

The Left wing student union of Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), decided to create a stir in the political atmosphere of Delhi and organized a program in which they commemorated Afzal Guru on his death anniversary and slammed the decision of Hon' Supreme Court of hanging him for his activities linked to terror attacks in India. The program was held in JNU and it is heard that a lot of pro Pakistan and Anti-India slogans were raised and Afzal Guru was made out to be a martyr. After this show, (which was a slap in the face of our democracy and an open misuse of fundamental rights,) when the news of what transpired in this show and after the complaints registered by BJP's student wing ABVP and BJP leaders with Delhi police, the leader of this Super Patriotic and Nationalistic student union Mr. Kanahia Kumar was arrested on charges of Sedetion. So this was just the news of what actually happened. Now we come to the comic relief from this very serious issue which would lighte

Swachh Bharat? We need more!

When Mr. Narendra Modi took the podium of Red Fort for the first time, one of the major programmes he launched was Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a drive to clean India and free the nation of all the filth lying everywhere. It was indeed a great thought which was always in front of everyone but easily ignored. But even after close to one and a half years since the launch, the program is yet to achieve some recognizable results.  What can be the reason for this? To analyze the above question,  we have to first ask ourselves another very important question. Why was there a need to launch Swachh Bharat Abhiyan? The answer lies in the hearts of 99% of Indians,  who would curse the government and civic agencies for not ensuring the cleanliness of the country but will also either spit there or litter everywhere around them. We Indians seem to have lost the sense of belonging towards our country after achieving independence. Our forefathers sacrificed a lot to achieve independence so that their

India Pakistan Peace - A Dream That May Not Become A Reality

It happened again. As soon as there was an effort by the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan to rekindle the peace talks, there was a deadly terror attack at an Airforce base in Pathankot. And this was not a one off incident. When Prime Minister A B Vajpayee visited Lahore by bus and extended a hand of friendship, we suffered Kargil war, when Parvez Musharraf was invited to India and India tried to initiate peace process at Agra, the reply came in the form of attack on our Parliament, then we suffered 26/11 which was as horrific if not more than the attacks in Paris and the latest slap on the face of the initiative for peace started by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's surprise visit to Pakistan on invitation of Pakistan's PM Nawaz Sharif came in the form of this deadly attack on Air Force base. The above incidents prove that no matter how seriously or how passionately peace is pursued by the two countries, there are parties involved who are more interested in disrupting
